Thursday evening, Jon was diagnosed with a high-grade, very aggressive sarcoma of the muscle tissue. On my way to pick up the kids, I stopped in Salem and had coffee with Jon and his mom. It was good to see them both and we talked for awhile about my new job, new house and then moved on to talking about his tumor. There was a comfortableness there that we had during our best times together. Jon has an appointment tomorrow in Seattle where he will find out what his options are. His mom and I joked and teased him, asked him questions, demanded things from him. He and I settled into the comfort of old conversations, recycled phrases and tidbits from well-worn arguments that now carry the weight of a spider.
It was good to see him. Good to remind myself what my role is and isn't.
Please keep him in your thoughts.

Will do...and please keep us posted.
